The art of teaching is the art of assisting discoveries. I am a McGill University graduate who studied literature and education. I am passionate about all things related to education, especially literacy, technology, and game-based learning. I currently am researching close reading and project-based learning at the elementary level. I enjoy creating resources, which I sell on Teachers Pay Teachers under the name "Messy Learning". I hope to one day write a children's book.

My philosophy of teaching.
I recently was accredited a year-long course from the Neufeld Institute, called Making Sense of Attention Problems which deeply influenced my understanding of classroom management. Neufeld provides concrete "strategies to address the roots of attention problems" (Neufeld 2012). Neufeld stresses the importance of having a sympathetic ear, investing in your students, and engaging in their natural interests. His natural approach to classroom management compliments my personality perfectly. Neufeld said "learning is a vulnerable act". We must remember that every time a child raises his hand to answer a question, he becomes vulnerable. A comment from a peer or the wrong intonation from the teacher can shut down that child completely. A safe and supportive environment is key.
